happy thanksgiving to ya all
hi my friends i want to wish ya all a happy thanksgiving if ya celebrate it. if not then happy thursday LOL LOL, tonight i enjoyed chatting with my friends at the ville' today was so busy. i had to go to the mall to get hubby a birthday present(yes i know it was last week, but we are going to celebrate it again on thursday so his mom and dad can be here) i was suprised at how dead the mall was . i thought it would not be quite that bad after the shooting that happend on sundayafternoon. this is what happened .

With a semi-automatic rifle under his trench coat and a pistol and extra ammunition in a guitar case, Dominick Sergio Maldonado went to the Tacoma Mall on Sunday intent on making himself heard.
That’s what court documents charged Monday.

Shortly after noon, a 911 call came in from the 20-year-old’s cell phone. The caller said he had two assault rifles and was about to start shooting.

Where was he going to shoot, the dispatcher asked.

“Just follow the screams,” the caller answered.

Seconds later, Pierce County prosecutors charge, Maldonado started shooting inside the mall. He fired at least 20 times, wounding six people, and held hostages for hours before surrendering.

Prosecutors charged Maldonado with 14 crimes Monday and detailed the noon-hour shootings at the South Tacoma shopping center that terrified the community.

During their investigation of Maldonado, police found hundreds of rounds of ammunition and several ammunition magazines, the charges say. In his East Side bedroom, they found a formula for creating the poison ricin, targets in the shape of humans, and bomb-making diagrams and materials.

Maldonado told investigators he’d suffered childhood humiliation and difficulties and that recent emotional events and a desire to be heard led to the shootings. Nevertheless, he said he wasn’t trying to shoot anyone and claimed he wanted only to “hold people” to get the attention of the news media.

Defense attorney Sverre Staurset said Maldonado was remorseful, and devastated to learn his bullets had hit people.

But a day after the shootings, no one knows just what it is Maldonado wanted to say.

“All that I know is he felt like he was being ignored,” deputy prosecutor Phil Sorensen said. “I don’t know what it is he wants to say. I don’t have a clue, and that seems to be part of the whole mystery of what’s going on.”

Tall and thin, his thick black hair cut short, Maldonado stood in a fifth-floor Pierce County Superior Court courtroom and pleaded not guilty to eight counts of first-degree assault, four counts of first-degree kidnapping and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Judge Gary Steiner set bail for Maldonado at $2 million. The judge set a trial date in January.

It’s an assault case everyone hopes won’t turn into a homicide. Of the six people hit by gunfire, one man – Brendan McKown, who was shot in the abdomen – was still in the hospital, in critical condition Monday night.

“He is still living,” Sorensen said, “but subject to infection and other sorts of things that could take his life.”

Maldonado’s mother watched the hearing silently, occasionally shaking her head and closing her eyes.

Seeing Maldonado in court was a healing experience for some shoppers caught in the fray Sunday.

“(A grief counselor who works for the court system) thought it would be a good idea for me to go and see him,” said Kris Triboulet, a Pierce County court reporter who said the shooting seemed to go on forever as she and her boyfriend were crouched in a jewelry store. “So it’s not always the monster in the closet. He’s the punk that I can process in my head.”

In charging papers, prosecutors allege the shooting spree started after Maldonado entered the mall near the Sears store. He went up to a T-Mobile kiosk near the J.C. Penney store and spoke to an employee before taking off his trench coat and firing, documents say.

Two people – Frank Latimer and Anderea Hutchison – were hit. Maldonado shot at T-Mobile employees Daniel Torres and James Toomey but missed them, the documents say.

Witnesses said Maldonado then turned and fired down the length of the mall. Documents say one round was recovered more than 500 feet away inside the mall.

He walked toward Macy’s.

Roberta Davis was shot in the thigh near Starbucks. McKown was shot near Kit’s Camera, and is paralyzed, with internal injuries. Frank Stiles was hit in the arm, and Amit Benyehuda was shot in the leg near the Sam Goody Music Store.

Maldonado went into the music store and herded three people – employees Joseph Hudson and Catherine Riggins and customer John Black – to the back of the store, documents say. Joseph Howe, another employee, said he was ordered to stay in the store but escaped through a back door. A young boy, identified only as P.P., also was taken hostage.

Maldonado then fired multiple rounds inside the store, charges say.

Hudson, an Iraq war veteran, told police he was more frightened inside the store than he ever was in Iraq.

Maldonado, who had constructed a barricade at the store’s front door, agreed to release the boy, documents say. Then, after nearly four hours, he gave his weapons to a hostage and was arrested, according to the documents.

Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said officers negotiated with Maldonado for hours, but he didn’t know what persuaded Maldonado to give up.

Sorensen said the investigation is continuing and charges could be added.

Already, Maldonado faces what would effectively be a life sentence. The first 12 charges against him carry added prison time because a firearm was used in the crime. Those alone would be 60 years in prison without release. Each of the eight assault charges also has a mandatory minimum sentence of five years.

Defense attorney Staurset said part of his job will be to figure out why it happened.

“Anything as horrendous as this must have some genesis,” he said. “It’s my job to make sense of something that’s not easy to make sense of. How does an otherwise attractive man of 20 years old end up with a gun at the mall on a Sunday?”

The attorney said he thinks things in Maldonado’s background – “worse than ridicule” – will explain the shooting.

The veteran defense attorney said he doesn’t yet know Maldonado well, but he knows the kind of client he is.

“I think this is the Columbine client,” Staurset said. “I think his background is exactly like all the high school shooters.”

i did not think the people who normally shop here would stay away like they have been. today i don't think there was more than maybe 300 people total there. if that
i figured it was over and that i needed to get a gift for hubby so i went there. is a sad sad world when things like this happen, and because of all the victims(there was over 100 kids waiting to see santa it could have been so much worse. i am doubly thankful as my daughter often goes to this mall as she has friends who work at the mall including one who works at sam goody(although he was not working that day) but other friends were and they are all terrorized . i hope that the people who were injured will be alright and am praying for the man who is in critical condition that he survives and that he is not paralized as the doctors are saying he may very well be. so i guess i have many things to be thankful for and that is one of them that she was not there/ god bless all of you and may you have a peaceful bountiful
thanksgiving. and that any of you traveling arrives safe and sound at where ever you are going. also i pray for our troops in the middle east and else where,. god bless them too as they continue to lay their lives on the line protecting this great country of ours. take care and god bless you all. hugggggggggggs

i recieved a "gift" today

this morning as i was going to feed my furbabies their dry food(hubby always feeds them a can of food in the morning) well when i opened the door to the recroom where they sleep, have a kitty door for them, i found my little "suprise" my cat baby who is one of the best mousers i have ever seen had killed a little deer mouse or a small rat, hubby says it was a deer mouse, and left it in the rec room for me to find it. needless today i about jumped out of my skin. ws not a pretty site believe me, but i was so proud of them. they are all good kitties and did not do anything but bring it as a present. which i am grateful for.
today i recieved my ornaments from jackie in the philliapians. girl you rock i love them so much. even hubby who is a dyed in the wool hardliner when it comes to ornaments thought they were beautiful. i think i am seriously confusing the mailman though LOL LOL well till tomorrow my friends i hope they don't bring home anything else. enough to make me want to throw the shovel at it instead of picking it up with it. stayed tuned, hugggggs

wish me luck

tomorrow i am suppose to go over to my baby sisters house for a little family get together, my sister from virgina after being told that her daughter would pay for her ticket decided to come after all as i told ya in a previous post. well the thing was this. i was told on wednsday that they were not going to be at my lil's house on saturday, they were leaving early and going to spend the day in seattle, go up in the space needle ect. well when told this i asked, well what time, figuring maybe around 3 or 4, nope they were going to head right out in the morning and did not seem to care wether they saw me or not, well of course after hearing this i was of the mind to say fine i won't come at all while you are here. they actually wanted my husband and daughter to take time off of work, something which we can not afford at all, so they could go play. so for a while i thought that i would not even go, but then after mom telling them that they were selfish and not caring and she wished they had not come and then my other sister telling them that they would not be able to visit mom anyways as she has dialisis on fridays and she always feels like crud after wards. they decided to go today. so looks like i am going to have to see them after all. isn't it sad that one person can be so non caring for want of a better word, that even while flesh and blood they are so different that yourself. so i hope ya all could send me some huggs and wishes for some good times tomorrow . that my sister does not cause anymore trouble because i certainly do not want that for my mama, but i can tell ya i sure will not keep my mouth shut afterwards, well yea i will, cause it is not worth the pain she has caused me. please send good thoughts and prayers my way tomorrow hugggggs

wow i need a vacation
this has been a horrible month so far, as some of you know my mom is doing very poorly and could die at any given moment time. well friday i had talked to my baby sister who is always there for mom. she told me mom had been to the heart specialist and that she had a limited time left. mom had asked him if he knew how long she would have. he told her that he could not give her a time, but she needs to put her affairs in order as soon she could. well mom had told him that she did already. then she told my baby sis that the most wonderful thing that could happen to her would be for all of us kids to get together. so my sister and i were talking about how we could get the other sister to agree, well it happened i had called my niece and she said she along with her mother. so they will be here wens then leave sunday,

and when i thought i would not have to deal with any more bad news, i have found out tonight that my nephew who lives in texas has stomach cancer, i am just devistated. hoe much more can this family take. please keep him in your prayers an send healing positive thoughts his way, his name is micahel and he is 31 years old. the doctor is pretty sure that he caught it in time. thank you all . huggggs vicki

warning: rant ahead
today again worked on my craft room, i worked most of the day only stopping a couple times to sit down as my back was killing me, and hubby walks in from work and says what did you do all day? nothing? i wanted to smack him, i mean i know it does not look like a lot, but after all this is not going to be done in just one day. i know he would like me to get rid of more stuff, but ya know what, i am NOT doing it. seems like i am the only one getting rid of the things i love. i did not mind giving the yarn to the sisters (nuns) as i know they will do great things with it, but it reallllly bugs me when he comes home and thinks i have done nothing. even though i can not do a lot of heavy cleaning(not able to lift or bend) i do try my best. now tonight he grumps at me that it looks like i did nothing. MEN.......
tomorrow my daughter is off and we are going to take her car to midas to have some brakes put on it, she drives alot and i want to make sure she is safe, she keeps telling me she does not have the money so i am going to charge it and have her pay me back in monthly installments. that way i am comfortable with her driving.

tonight i also made a good dinner, bbq pork chops, oven roasted potatos, also had some green beans and italian herb bread with it all. was soo good, and did i get a thanks honey? no i got nothing
zip zilch zero LOL

tonight i worked on my ornaments also, have 7 of one kind done, but need at least 60 total so have a little ways to go LOL am making more than this one kind, but still need to make over 20 more . oh well will get them done soon, they don't take tooo long to make when i actually put my mind to it LOL
took a shawl down i had made to show the lady who ordered one for her mom, that would look like the one i would be making her mom but a bit larger as she is a bigger person and like them loose. so after i showed her she was sooooo excited . i am very happy about that. am hoping to sell more of my stuff as it will be my christmas money, otherwise all the kids are going to get will be a small gift. but thats all right too, i am hoping next year will be a bit better money wise for us. thanks for listening to me rant, i needed to get it out before i go to bed otherwise i might be tempted to steal his covers and not give them back LOL till tomorrow. am off to bed and the stolen covers lol hugggs

another day

well today i was very happy to find out i had sold another shawl. wooohooo, and the lady who bought it has a friend who wants to learn to crochet, plus she is a girl scout leader and we are going to try and work somthing out for the girls to learn to crochet for their badge , not sure which one it is, but am sure there is one lol

took some more yarn down to the sisters. boy were they happy, like little kids in a candy store, i had to laugh to myself when i left, but it makes me feel so good to help others and this is a much better way than me trying to do it myself.

also worked a bit more on the craft room and the house. tomorrow will scrub the wall down if i can, other wise will wait till hubby gets home and have him do it for me(hey he offered to help) lol
also sat and crocheted a bit more. more ornaments i did make lol
still not tellin ya what yet cause i know my partner reads this blog lol

today was not so bad outside although very cool, i kind of am getting into the holiday spirit and so far am on the low side of it LOL. since my hubbys and sons birthdays are this month we decided to celebrate their birthday on thanksgiving as it will be better for mil.

today was also debating what else to make for both the ornament swap and also my partner for the winter holiday swap. also am working on things for my family and some friends and of course my christmas presents to all who know and love me. if i find more yarn will scream LOL, why oh why did i buy so much yarn. and with more chenille coming the end of the week. but thats a bit different, is what i have been able to make things with that seem to be selling. well my friends am off to crochet for a little wee bit and talk with ya all later, bunches of huggggggs

what a day
todntay i worked all day in my craft room, it is such a mess, and i have way to much yarn so a couple weeks ago i called the local convent here in tacoma, as i had given them a ton of yarn last spring and they used it all for charity work, so i called again and asked if they wanted more they said yes right away. so today i went through most of my yarn stash and gave them 3 huge bags of it full. i wish i could keep it, but we live in a small house even though my craft room is a bit larger than most. but i am still out of room, which tells me i am needing to destash LOL, will also send some to some friends who send me the return postage. i wish i could just mail it and not charge, but all in all they are still getting a good deal as there is probably 50.00 worth of yarn in the box,. i know i could sell it on e-bay, but is such a hassle.
but tonight i am now paying the ultimate price. my back is hurting something fierce. but am now sitting with my heat pack. i also found some of the ornaments i had made this summer and put away for now. so am thrilled with that as i have so many to do and so little time to do them all in. i also worked on my swap partners gift last night and a bit today, will finish it tonight except for a few things, i am not saying what it is though cause i know she reads my blog:-) lol

last night was chilly, am expecting we will have frost before to long, was so close to it this morning. fall and winter are not my favorite times of year as you all might know with the titanium in my back it seems to attract the cold, but i have to live with it so will now quit whining LOL

omgosh i did not know how much yarn i still had and i have even more in the garage, plus i have 12 pounds coming on friday of chenille. i seem to be making more things with the nicer yarns now. nothing wrong with the good old fashioned worsted weight, just am making other things that need a lighter weight yarn. i think my favorite yarn is chenille, with threads running a close second. i found some awesome fingerling yarn i am going to send to a dear friend on the ville'. should be just what she needs lol, is so awesome when i can help a fellow artist out and help myself too. room gets cleaned, hubby stops grouching friend gets yarn LOL LOL LoL. well i hope ya all have a wonderful day tomorrow. i know tomorrow is voting day so i will be off doing my civic duty. there are a few things on this election i am defenitly voting both for and against. the one thing i am following the close is a initative to limit what a person can collect when they have been injured by malpractice. i know how that is as i was injured and not treated by the doctor correctly, but i can tell you it is almost impossible to sue a doctor, so this is a bunch of hooey lol. is amazing how many rights you don't have.. well on that note am off to crochet. huggggs to ya all

whats for dinner?

hi was wondering what ya all are having for thanksgiving dinner, i know that most people have the tradional turkey or a ham, but is anyone doing anything else unique. one year we had stuffed manicotti, another year we bbq'd steak, this year i am thinking is going to be a bit more tradional, we will have a ham and a small turkey, son will cook the ham and i will cook the turkey,(i have a 2 oven stove) with it we will have of course mashed potatos and gravy( a must) also we are having herb stuffing, 2 veggies carmelized sweet potaoes,(which are so good but so fattening, but what the heck, is only once a year i can feast like a queen), also will have a veggetable plate that my fil always makes and not only is it a nice platter full of all kind of goodies, but he makes extra and brings it too, is a traditon now for grandpa to make and bring the platter of veggies for appetizers. for dessert we will have a few things, of course the tradional pumpkin pie, but also a pumkin baked alaska that a dear friend shared with me, also will have a white cake for those who do not like or can not eat pumpkin. this year we will also be celebrating my hubby's and sons birthdays as they are close to thanksgiving and since it is like pulling hens teeth to get my mil out here, will be combining them and having birthday cake too(which will be the white cake) well thats about it for me, if ya all want please feel free to share with me your holiday celebrations, your food, what you do who ya invite the whole thing. i love knowing others traditions . until tomorrow my friends

worked sucked
today i had one of my crochet classes i teach, well i was suppose to have 2 students , i hardly ever go all the way there just to teach one person as it is hardly worth my gas and time, well today i had 2 people signed up, i called yesterday and confirmed that they were coming, the one lady i talked to said yes she would be there, the other one i left a message with her son asking if she was coming and if not to please call me and let me know so i could cancel the class. well i got to work today and found i had 1 student not 2 as i was suppose to have, well i am thinking thats to bad as they signed up and if you are going to cancel to get your money back you are suppose to do it 48 hours before as it is a company rule, well when i found out today this person canceled LAST NIGHT, and got her money back, i was a bit peeved, because not only did i only have one student , but was also out 30.00 for my time. company policy states they have to cancel at least 48 hours before, thats the rules, well someone at my store decided that since this woman was such "a grear customer" she would give her her money back which was my money that i would have earned. not only did this woman cancel but she did not even have the decency to call me and tell me, specificly when i had asked her to do just that, well i found out later, this woman has signed up and canceled more classes, she signs up, gets her 10% off coupon, uses it then cancels the class, they seriously need to change the way that is worked, i personally think that they should get the 10% coupon for a "future" item, and that it should be presented at the class, that would eliminate these scammers who are just signing up to get the discount, sad sad world my friends. thanks for listening to me "whine", i was not a happy person at all, but when i got home from work in the mail was 3 wonderful raoks, i received a post card from suzee and also one from fiona all the way from wales. which isa wonderful addition to my post card collection, i also recieved from fran a wonderful pattern book with something i have been looking for for quite some time, will post more later about it as it is something i am making for a dear friend on the ville' andi know she reads this blog LOL, so sorry bout that , once she gets it i will post a pic hehehe, well until tomorrow, lord willing and the creek don't rise(it has been raining here for 3 days straight) huggggs

prayers needed please
i talked to my mom today, last night she had another heart attack, doctor said for her to go home and rest, he gave her meds, but her heart is only functioning at 17% i called my sister to tell her if she wants to see mom again she needs to come home. her response again was i can not afford it, i will have to come to the funeral instead. please pray she has a change of heart. i know this person is not my real sister. i do not know what her problem is. but i do know my mom is not long for this world barring a miracle, and granted they do happen so i am not going to give up. ya know i wonder why people think things are so much more important than people. i mean i am sure there are somethings mom has that my sister would like. i really don't care if mom leaves me anything, actually i would prefer her not to, because i would much rather have her here than a something she willed to me. i don't understand people at all, i talked to my nephew who lives in texas, he is going to try and get home to see mom, but he is having troubles himsel, the doc thinks he might have a brain tumor, my brother had one a couple years ago, and now his son is having alot of the same symtoms. i wonder how much more this family can take, guess it will be whatever comes. as i will never give up nor will anyone else in my family. so if ya pray please pray for them, if ya want to think a good thought that also would be awesome. thanks for listening and letting me vent. huggggggggs

another day lol

today was the day star wars came out. while i was tired, my son did ask me to go and get it for him as he had something else to do. so off i went to best buy, omgosh everyone who was standing in line had a copy of star wars, and while i know there was many places he could have gotten it, if ya bought it at best buy, you got a free lithgraph, and this one is awesome,as big as a record album.

tonight i talked to some friends on the forum chat line, i got to talk to my swap partner(i am buying for her) she seems so nice am glad we got a chance to chat. i also got some great ideas for her. i should be working on that snow flake afghan bu i so am not wanting to, but when i get off i imagine i will as i only have 3 more squares to make and then put the snow flake on by embroidery. i was a good girl too, i went to michaels, and i did not BUY ANYTHING!!!!!! woohooo, have decided that this month i am going to not buy myself anything else. i bought some yarn off of e-bay, but that was last month. i need to decide what to make for my gifts. my sisters are all going to ger shawls, (even the sister from hell i think, maybe depends lol) and then for my brother and the brother inlaws
probably will bake cookies and give them a cookie plate with a hand made scarf. my nieces and nephews look forward to their annual scarf, my oldest niece who lives here is at college now so am going to find out what her school colors are and make her a scarf in that
also have a poncho for her. she is a sweet kid and loves what i make her. for her senior ball i made her a wrap out of trellis ribbon yarn, all of her friends loved it, they wanted to know where she got it, she told them it was a designer original(which it is, i designed it and it was a original) lol here is a pic of it at the top. i so enjoy making things and sharing with someone who cares. between my dd and my nieces i have made almost everything except a wedding dress and that is something i would like to make once i get my statue of liberty picture done. hope to have that finished by next july 4th. would be so fitting. well am off to work on that darn afghan(doesn't my job know i hate afghans?)!!!!! so until tomorrow i say see ya and hugggs

why do people drive so stupid
today as i was driving down this road in puyallup, minding my own business when this moron in this fancy bmw decided to pull right out in front of me, he did not even look, i had to step hard on my brakes and then the idiot proceeds to yell at ME, well that took all of about 2 seconds when i told him he was a moron idiotic driver who had no sense at all. i mean please, when you see a car coming , you certainly do not pull right out in front of him. but thats what this idiot did to me. i missed him by about 1/2 inch, then as i was walking into walmart, in the cross walk, this older lady speeds right through as i was walking up to the store. i about threw the cart towards her to make her stop., i yelled at her to pay attention, she looks up and me and says oh sorry. omgosh how stupid are people. thats why we have so many accidents. i personally have found that if even 1 /4 of the people who are out there on the highways payed any attention we would not have the fatality rate that we have today. after those 2 close calls i did what i had to do then came home. i pulled out of the parking lot and believe me was saying some major prayers on my way home. thanks for letting me vent. i swear that people do things on purpose like mr i am a bigshot cause i drive a bmw idiot, LOL. on that happy little note lol happy halloween LOL hugggs
